The Company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange November 1997 and changed name to Ignis ASA [IGNIS] October 2004. After a number of structural mergers, acquisitions and divestments Ignis decided in 2008 to divest its Solution division to Telenor and focus on expanding and growing its Technology business.

Ignis is focusing on developing and manufacturing fiberoptical components for high speed broadband networks. In 2003 Ignis acquired Photonyx Ltd and started ramping up their activities within PLC based technology. One year later Ignis acquired NKT Integration in Denmark which included a manufacturing fab in Birkeröd, Denmark and packaging capabilities in Canada. In 2005 Ignis acquired 50.1% (today 69.3%) of the Korean PLC splitter fab Fi-ra Photonics Ltd. in Gwang-Ju to become a leading international manufacturer of PLC splitters. In 2006 Ignis started an ambitious R & D program in Ignis Photonyx in Denmark to develop and launch a highly competitive AWG chip and module - recognized as the next generation technology for cost effective transportation of data in high speed broadband networks. This program was completed in 2008 and the first commercial products were launched in 2009.

Further on Ignis decided in 2009 to expand their product portfolio to include active fiber optical components and acquired Syntune AB in Sweden. Syntune is manufacturing tunable and non-tunable laser chips and modules for fiberoptical networks.

Ignis ASA is now manufacturing Active fiber optical components (Tunable/Non-Tunable Lasers) and Passive fiber optical components (Splitters and AWGs) to the international telecom market.
